British Telecom Partners with Azimuth Systems to Validate Fusion Mobile Phones

Leading Operator Employs Azimuth Equipment for Fixed-Mobile Performance Testing

ACTON, MA - March 12, 2007 -Azimuth Systems, Inc., the leading provider of Wi-Fi engineering test equipment, today announced that British Telecom (BT), one of the world’s leading providers of communications solutions, is employing Azimuth’s Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC) Performance Test Solution. The solution automates repeatable performance tests across a broad range of real-world environment dynamics and streamlines testing of BT’s dual-mode Fusion handsets to ensure that they meet the company’s high performance standards.

“BT Fusion and BT Wireless Cities provide mobile freedom with all the services that users expect,” said Dave Hughes, Director of BT Wireless Broadband. “In addition to accelerating our test execution through repeatable automation, Azimuth’s thorough test coverage helps to ensure that our customers receive a high level of satisfaction from BT’s mobile phones and services.”

The Azimuth FMC Performance Test Solution measures Wi-Fi performance in three areas that get the most attention from end-users: dropped calls, battery life and call quality. This allows operators such as BT to prove that their handsets deliver the carrier-grade Wi-Fi quality of service required by end-users to drive rapid adoption of converged voice and data services. The basic software suite runs on Azimuth’s award-winning W-Series test platform and enables performance testing using the Test Engine methodology originally developed by the Wi-Fi Alliance for certification testing of Wi-Fi devices.

“We are pleased that BT, one of the world’s leading providers of communications solutions, has partnered with Azimuth to validate the performance of their Fusion dual-mode handsets,” said Jeff Abramowitz, vice president of marketing at Azimuth Systems. “As the industry shifts to converged fixed-mobile solutions, the handsets and services to support the integration of Wi-Fi are changing rapidly. Azimuth’s leadership in Wi-Fi testing makes us well-suited to meet the needs of innovative technology leaders such as BT in their deployment of exciting new products and services.”
